CTMI 2018 Las Vegas
We just wrapped up our annual summer event — chuthis. Movement Intensive! CTMI consists of 6 days of movement education in Las Vegas by chuthis. educators. This year, we had around 100 applicants, and we welcomed 48 dancers from across America, as well as one dancer from Costa Rica. We had dancers as young as 14, as well as dancers well into their professional careers.
The faculty for this edition of CTMI was Peter Chu, Jenni Berthelot, Krystal Matsuyama, & Jillian Meyers. Dancers took classes in chuthis. Ideas, chuthis. Repertoire, Qi Gong, Prehab, Ballet, Modern, & Grooves, and also participated in daily reflective writing & discussions. CTMI is always incredibly inspiring and fulfilling for us as educators; we love to be a part of the journey of dancers of all ages. Thank you to Bunker Dance Center for hosting CTMI once again, and thank you to every person who joined us and made the week so special!

Peter Chu — Blodgett Distinguished Artist
Harvard University
We are thrilled to announce that Peter Chu has been recognized by Harvard University's Department of Music as a Blodgett Distinguished Artist for 2018. This honor was granted to Peter for his work with the Harvard Dance Project on a new creation, Fitting Out. Past guests that have been hosted under this prestigous program include Ursula Oppens, Pierre Boulez, Pauline Oliveros, Angelique Kidjo, and Yo-Yo Ma.
In other exciting news, Peter has been chosen as one of three choreographers who will be featured in a course study at Harvard University this fall. The course, entitled Contemporary Repertory: Dance Authorship in 21st Century, will be taught by Mario Alberto Zambrano, and will focus on contemporary traditions and the repertory of Crystal Pite, Peter Chu, and Sidra Bell. Students will learn, study, and practice the technique and choreographic language of these artists. Peter will visit Harvard to teach and lecture as a part of this exciting and innovative course.

Teaching in Canada
Peter will be traveling to Toronto this week to be a part of the Foundations Summer Program at Canadian Dance Company. This two-week ballet intensive features teachers from around the world, and includes all the aspects that you can expect from a professional ballet school. The program began August 14th and runs through August 24th — Peter will join the faculty for three days this week. He is excited to spend time in Canada, and to share chuthis. Ideas & Repertoire with the dancers there!

Upcoming: chuthis. Performance!
chuthis. is honored to be a part of Contemporary West Dance Theatre's Collaborative Artist Showcase! This showcase presents the work of four dance companies — Contemporary West Dance Theatre, Lula Washington Dance Theatre Company, Versa-Style Dance Company, and chuthis. Thank you to Artistic Director of Contemporary West Dance Theatre, Bernard H. Gaddis, for inviting chuthis. to be a part of this exciting program in our hometown of Las Vegas.
Peter will represent chuthis. and perform Smile Masking (Solo Version) on Wednesday, August 29th, at 7:00pm. The show will be held at West Las Vegas Library Theatre; it is free and open to the public! We hope to see some familiar faces in the audience.
